Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the ongoing construction of additional wards and ICU at the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) in Quezon City is now being hastened for immediate completion.
"In a meeting, together with our team and its counterpart at the Department of Health (DOH) and the building contractor, I was assured that a system is in place to complete the EAMC facilities the soonest," said Secretary Villar.
"These facilities will be able to accommodate additional 250 patients," added Secretary Villar.

A total of 23 additional COVID-19 quarantine facilities in Metro Manila are now under construction and being fast-tracked for completion before the end of August 2020.
This was disclosed by Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar on Monday citing the urgency of the projects as the Department of Health recently announced that COVID-19 hospital bed occupancy in the Capital Region (NCR) has reached 'danger zone' or more than 70 percent occupancy.

A new off-site dormitory that will provide temporary shelter to medical personnel of Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBLMGH) in San Fernando City, Pampanga was recently completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
DPWH assures the continuous assistance to the Department of Health in the provision of the much needed public health facilities to meet the COVID-19 national health emergency, said Secretary Villar.

Good news to motorists as the flyover built by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Panabo City, Davao Del Norte has officially opened Thursday, July 16, 2020.
The 195.59-meter Panabo City steel flyover with 304-meter approaches completed by the DPWH Unified Project Management Office - Bridges Management Cluster (DPWH-UPMO BMC) will practically eliminate vehicle congestion by providing continuous traffic flow along the busy intesection of Daang Maharlika Highway-Tadeco and Panabo Wharf Road.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officially turnover to the Quezon City government four (4) cluster dormitories with 64 rooms intended for 128 hospital workers.
The "fully furnished' dormitories constructed at Quezon City Memorial Circle were received by Quezon City Administrator Michael Victor Alimurung from DPWH Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain, head of DPWH Task Force for Augmentation of Health Facilities formed by Secretary Mark A. Villar.

A total of 200 wooden beds fabricated by workers of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are now being used by COVID-19 patients in Cebu City.
Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the wooden beds were fabricated by DPWH Cebu City District Engineering Office following a meeting by District Engineer Florida NunÌƒez with the officials of Cebu City local government who expressed their need for beds in quarantine facilities.

Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark A. Villar announced that the final segment of the 88.85 kilometer-Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) will be open to motorists by July 15.
Secretary Villar said that the completion and opening of the 11-kilometer Pozorrubio, Pangasinan to Rosario, La Union Section is seen to drastically reduce travel time from Tarlac to Rosario by an hour from the current 3.5 hours.

DPWH through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) is assisting the local government of Quezon City put up 'We Heal as One Offsite Dormitory' solely for use by doctors, nurses and other medical professionals working in hospitals within the territorial jurisdiction of Quezon City and need space to rest between shifts.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar conducted final inspection on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 of the C3-R10 Section of NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 slated for opening 'ªon June 15, 2020'¬.
Secretary Villar said that the completion of the 2.6-kilometer new section will provide direct access between R10 in Navotas City and NLEX.
The C3-R10 section of the NLEX Harbor Link also includes three (3) exit off-ramps namely: Segment 10-C3 Ramp to Caloocan City, Dagat-Dagatan Ramp to Malabon City, and C3-R10 Ramp to Navotas City.

By the end of 2020, the Build Build Build Program of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is expected to generate a total of 6.57 million jobs.
DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar said that the continuous yearly increase in infrastructure budget has led to the massive employment generation across the country.
"We are glad to announce that in 2016, 911,034 jobs were generated and this number ballooned to 1,196,555 jobs in 2017; 1,714,905 in 2018; and 1,226,023 in 2019," said Secretary Villar.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) targets to open to motorists the major segment of Central Luzon Link Expressway or CLLEX Phase 1 leading to Cabanatuan City by end of this year.
According to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, the CLLEX Phase 1 is now 82% completed and about 25 kilometer stretch is targeted to open by December 2020.
